It’s a bird, it’s a plane… No, it’s the latest instalment of Spiderman. Tom Holland follows into the footsteps of Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield by stepping into the role of everyone’s favourite webslinger.
With this being the second reboot of the Spiderman franchise, one has to wonder how this particular one stands out from its predecessors. Well firstly there is a more of youthful element to this one. We were first introduced to Tom Holland as 15 year old Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War and even then and it was easy to side with the young underdog. Secondly, superhero fans will know that this version of Spiderman is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This universe includes films like The Avengers and Thor thus the possibility of cameos from other superheroes is enough to encourage moviegoers to rush to the cinemas. Also, Robert Downey Jr reprises his role as Iron Man to take the young Peter Parker under his wing. The cast also includes Zendaya as a possible love interest and Michael Keaton as the films antagonist, Vulture.
Following its Hollywood premiere on June 28, the film has been heavily praised by critics, increasing the hype for the film. With the school holidays in full swing, the film is definitely a must-see for the entire family.
Spiderman Homecoming is out in cinemas 07 July 2017.
