“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead men tell no tales” has reached SA shores

After 6 years in the making, the long awaited Pirates of theCaribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales premiered on 26 May at Disneyland Shanghai,China. The occasion also marked the first big Hollywood movie release in theMiddle Kingdom.

Once more, we find Captain Jack Sparrow embarking on an adventure, chasing a legend of untold power. The fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise sees a down-on-his-luck Jack fighting for survival when his nemesis, Captain Salazar, escapes the Devil’s Triangle. To evade pursuit, Jack and his crew enlist the help of a beautiful astronomer and a young sailor in the Royal Navy, both with secrets of their own. Together they begin a quest for the fabled Trident of Poseidon, a mystical object that givesthe bearer power over the seas.

Since its release, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has gained significant popularity in China. The film’s earnings of $2.8 million for ‘’Curse of the black pearl’’, pales in comparison to the $70 million made at the box office for ‘’On Stranger Tides’’. Now, with a star-studded cast including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem and new leading lady, Kaya Scodelario, there are great expectations for Pirates 5. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is out in cinemas from 26 May 2016.Action-packedand filled with witty humour, the film is a must see for all ages.
